We undertake the construction of new green areas, depending on the specifics and the needs of each site.We also undertake the maintenance of green areas, which includes cleaning for quick and safe removal of dry and dangerous large branches, the transportation of cut branches (collection) to a composting unit in accordance with Law 4819 /2021 (Article 37, paragraph 2 and Article 50, paragraph 1), and the disposal-application of soil conditioners for the maintenance of green areas and plant protection
We undertake recycling - biowaste management services which consist of the following tasks:
Sorting at the Source:
The first and key stage of recycling is 'source separation'. This term describes the process by which useful materials are recovered before they are mixed with other waste streams, i.e. with other municipal or non-municipal waste. Source sorting is important not only because it is mandatory under the Waste Management Framework Directive 2008/98/EC but also because it is a method that significantly reduces the volume of waste going to landfill. . This results in less pollution of the soil, air and water table while at the same time clean organic waste is collected and processed, composted and promoted as compost, soil conditioner - organic fertilizer of high quality, through processing with natural biological processes. In Assea bioenergy we created and operate a model center for the preparation of biodegradable waste (seaweed, bulky greens, etc.) for recycling - recovery, based on the philosophy of ''sorting at source'' that operates according to the standards set by the domestic and EU legislation, while registering our method as a national patent producing the only 100% ecological soil amendment from Neptune biomass with recycled aggregates.
– Collection & Transportation
The waste collection and transportation services undertaken by Assea Bioenergy include:
Collection of recyclable materials, biodegradable waste, bulky greens, branches and other related items. Collection, transport and temporary storage services of waste, biodegradable materials and non-hazardous solid waste in general
– Processing
The specialized unit for the recycling of biodegradable materials such as waste plant tissue (seaweed), branches and other bulky greens, operates according to the specifications set by the legislation and the modern needs in order to separate waste collection and divert thousands of tonnes of waste from landfills. The plant is designed to utilize 100% of all available recyclable resources for the benefit of the environment, with modern technological equipment and qualified personnel.
During the recycling process, the waste is separated and either passes through a special shredder to be shredded, or is placed in open-type row beds to start the composting process.
- Recovery
Recovery is one of the most important stages of recycling as it gives new life to waste, extends the life of the Landfill, eliminates landfills, reduces the cost of final disposal of waste, reduces the landfill fee to zero and benefits the environment significantly and in many ways. In combination with the source sorting network of brown bins and the separation of green waste from mixed waste, we divert significant quantities of biowaste from the landfill and recover it for recycling through composting.
– Composting
Composting becomes compulsory according to the terms of Law 4819/2021 (article 37, paragraph 2 and article 50, paragraph 1). Our plant processes organic non-hazardous waste through composting, so that the organic waste is transformed through the natural biological process into A' quality compost, which is used as compost or organic fertiliser. In this way we contribute to the circular economy, reduce the energy footprint of the organisations we work with and at the same time strengthen the responsiveness of citizens through the local authorities we work with.
Assea Bioenergy operates according to ISO 90001 and 14001 standards, has certified its products for use in organic agriculture through the certification body of the Hellenic Institute of Organic Agriculture DIO (https://insteco.gr/), has analysis results from ELGO DIMITRA following research tests by the Institute of Mediterranean Forest Ecosystems of the General Directorate of Agricultural Research and is also a registered member of the non-profit European Compost Network (https://www.compostnetwork.info/about-ecn/list-of- members/) which represents bio-waste recycling operators in Europe and has 66 members from 27 European countries. Our company has registered the patent for the production of the first and only in Greece 100% ecological soil conditioner from Poseidonia biomass with recycled aggregate waste to the OVI industrial property organisation under No 1010649.Marine litter is usually mixed and consists of plastic, wood, metal, glass, rubber, fabric, paper etc.Litter is one of the most serious environmental problems facing the seas and their coastal areas.
At Assea Bioenergy, having all the required certifications, we undertake the cleaning of ports or beaches with light equipment and respect for national legislation and the environment. By performing this service, we achieve the reduction of marine pollution and the escape of land-based waste into the terrestrial and aquatic environment and the preservation of the safety and accessibility of bathers to the beach. At the same time, we contribute to the circular economy as most of the marine litter collected is recycled while the dead leaves of seaweed on the shores are converted into an excellent organic product for chemical-free fertilization, plant protection and soil improvement. We undertake the supply of goods to professionals, organisations and institutions of the public sector.
